Climb safe and have fun with us!

This year we plan to visit Alps, climb the notorious summits of Eiger and Matterhorn, take a hike along general Alexander Suvorov way, do rock climbing in the surrounding area.  

The purpose is to promote outdoor and mountaineering sports among youth, to perform interesting climbs, to learn other cultures and make friends.  

This event is jointly organized by Russian and Swiss climbing experts as part of the 14th International Youth Rock Climbing and Mountaineering Festival "Europe — Asia 2015", a yearly event which brings together climbers of different skills and profiles.

The festival "Europe — Asia 2015" is dedicated to:

  • 150-year anniversary of the first ascent to Mount Matterhorn (Switzerland)
  • 285-year anniversary of great Russian general Alexander Suvorov
  • 70-year anniversary of the end of the World War II

July 18 Transfer to Geneva by plane. Transfer to the camping.

July 19-24 Rock climbing, trekking by the Alexander Suvorov’s way

July 25 Transfer to Zermatt. Preparing provision and equipment.

July 26-30 Ascent to Matterhorn

Transfer to Matterhorn. Getting to the first camp. Do trekking to acclimatize. Get to the second camp and stay there for summit push. Climbing the top of mount. After celebrating the accomplishment of reaching the summit, we will start to descend. We will have a rest in the camp and then go back to base.

July 31 Spare day. If we do not need a spare day at Matterhorn, we can use it for a cultural and historical city tour.

August 1 Transfer to Zermatt and then to Lausanne. Having a rest on the shore of the Lake Geneva. Cultural program in Switzerland.

August 2 Farewell party. Departure to home.

Equipment list

Common and camp needs

  • 2- or 3-man tent (one tent per 2-3 persons)2. Backpack for all things
  • Sleeping bag (up to 0…–10 degree) and Kari or other insulating mat
  • Dishes
  • Electric torch with extra battery pack
  • Mosquito repellent
  • Summer clothes
  • Clothes for rainy, windy and cold weather (including gloves, hat, scarf)

  • Personal wash kit and towel
  • Insurance covering health costs, personal accident, personal liability and travel. Bring a copy of the certificate with you

Climbing, mountaineering and trekking equipment

  • Dynamic standard rope for rock climbing 10.5 – 11 mm, length 40-50 m (one rope per 2 persons)
  • Climbing harness
  • Lanyard
  • 3 screw gate karabiners
  • Belay devices or descender (figure Eight, “Gri-Gri” etc)
  • 10 quick draws with 2 karabiners (one kit per 2 persons)
  • Ascender (jumar)
  • Chalk bag and chalk

  • Climbing trousers (long or short)
  • Small backpack for one-day need
